Quick Jump
▶ Is the Final Sentence demo still available?
No, the demo ended on October 20, 2025. It ran during Steam Next Fest from October 10-20, 2025. The demo peaked at 1,547 concurrent players and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. The full game is scheduled to release in Q4 2025.
▶ When does Final Sentence release?
Final Sentence is scheduled to release in Q4 2025 (October-December 2025). The exact date hasn't been announced yet. You can wishlist the game on Steam to get notified when it launches and when a specific release date is confirmed.
▶ How much does Final Sentence cost?
The price hasn't been announced yet (TBD). Based on similar indie typing games and battle royale titles, we estimate it will likely be priced between $4.99-$14.99. The demo was free to play. Check our price analysis page for more details and comparisons to similar games.
▶ Can you play with friends?
Yes! Final Sentence offers both massive public matches and private matches. You can create private lobbies for 4-8 players with friends for more intimate typing battles. The public battle royale mode supports 40-100 players.
▶ How many players are in a match?
It depends on the mode. Battle royale matches support 40-100 simultaneous players competing to be the last typist standing or the first to finish. Private matches with friends support 4-8 players. You can choose your preferred mode when queuing.
▶ Do you need a good PC to play Final Sentence?
No, Final Sentence has very modest system requirements. Minimum specs are: GTX 460 graphics card, Intel Core i3 560 processor, and 8GB RAM. If your PC can run most modern games from the past 5-10 years, it can run Final Sentence. It's a typing game, not a graphics-intensive shooter.
▶ Can you use a controller to play?
No, Final Sentence is keyboard-only. The entire game is based on typing, so you must use a keyboard. Controllers, mice, and other input devices won't work for gameplay. Any standard keyboard (mechanical or membrane) will work fine.
▶ Is Final Sentence available on Mac?
The official Steam page currently only lists Windows as the supported operating system. There's no confirmed Mac version at this time. The game is PC (Windows) exclusive at launch. Mac compatibility hasn't been ruled out for the future, but there are no official announcements.
▶ How long does a match last?
Match length varies significantly based on player count, text length, and skill level. Typical matches range from 3-10 minutes. A 100-player match with a longer text passage might take 8-10 minutes as players are gradually eliminated. Smaller 40-player matches or highly skilled lobbies might finish in 3-5 minutes.
▶ What happens when you make a mistake?
Every typing error triggers the Russian roulette elimination mechanic. Each mistake adds a bullet to your revolver's chamber, spins the cylinder, and pulls the trigger. If the loaded chamber aligns with the firing pin, you're eliminated from the match. The more mistakes you make, the higher your elimination probability becomes. For example: 1 mistake = ~17% elimination chance, 3 mistakes = ~50% chance, 6 mistakes = nearly certain elimination.
▶ Can you practice before buying the game?
Yes! We've built a free practice tool on this website specifically for Final Sentence players. You can test your typing speed and accuracy, see how you'd perform in the actual game, and train to improve your WPM. The practice arena requires no signup and works on both desktop and mobile. ▶ Is it available on consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch)?
No, Final Sentence is PC-only via Steam at launch. There are no announced plans for console releases. The keyboard-centric nature of the game makes consoles unlikely platforms, though technically possible with USB keyboard support. For now, plan on playing on PC.
▶ Is there voice chat in the game?
This hasn't been officially confirmed yet. Most battle royale games include voice chat, especially for team/private matches, but Button Mash hasn't detailed the communication features. We'll update this answer when more information is available from the developers.
▶ Are there different game modes?
Yes. The main modes are: (1) Battle Royale with 40-100 players in public matchmaking, (2) Private matches with 4-8 friends, and (3) Ranked competitive mode for serious players climbing the ladder. There may be additional modes like sudden death or timed challenges, but these are the confirmed core modes.
▶ How does the ranking system work?
Final Sentence includes competitive ranked play with detailed stat tracking. The game records your WPM, accuracy, win rate, mistake patterns, and overall performance. Your competitive rank adjusts based on match results. Exact ranking tiers haven't been detailed yet, but expect a typical competitive ladder system similar to other esports titles.
▶ Is it scary? Is it a horror game?
Yes, but it uses psychological horror, not jumpscares. The horror comes from the tension of typing with a revolver to your virtual head, the dread of making mistakes that increase your elimination risk, and the atmospheric sound design (distant gunshots when players are eliminated). It's genuinely tense and stressful, especially in clutch situations, but it won't have monsters jumping out at you.
▶ What typing speed (WPM) do you need to be competitive?
Based on the demo, average players type 60-80 WPM. Competitive players typically hit 80-100+ WPM. However, accuracy matters more than raw speed due to the elimination mechanic. A player typing 70 WPM with 99% accuracy will outlast someone typing 100 WPM with 85% accuracy. If you're currently at 40-60 WPM, you can still play and improve—just focus on accuracy first.
▶ Can you spectate matches or watch others play?
This hasn't been officially confirmed. Most battle royale games allow spectating after elimination, which would make sense for Final Sentence (you could watch the remaining typists battle). Streaming and spectator features are likely given the competitive nature, but we're waiting for official confirmation.
▶ Will there be tournaments or esports for Final Sentence?
Nothing official has been announced, but the game is clearly designed with competitive play in mind (ranked mode, detailed stats, battle royale format). The typing game community and the positive demo reception suggest grassroots tournaments are likely. Whether Button Mash or Polden Publishing will organize official esports events remains to be seen.
▶ Is Final Sentence free-to-play or paid?
It will be a paid game on Steam. The exact price hasn't been announced (TBD), but it won't be free-to-play. The demo was free during Steam Next Fest, but the full release will require a purchase. We estimate $4.99-$14.99 based on similar indie games. It's a premium title, not a free-to-play game with microtransactions.
